blogged to a golden brown

Nah, I haven't been taking another blogging break. Just had absolutely nothing to say this week. Believe it or not.

Welcome to Year Zero on guff.

Today is the first day of the rest of this blog's life. Or something like that...Wait a minute. Year Zero? Are you reading me right? Yes, you certainly are. Feel free to refer to me sarcastically as Mr. Pot. Uh, yeah. Little ol' guff has been up and running past that extremely well publicized 365 day period, not taking into account any of the long, unannounced absences.

(It's said they make the heart grow fonder. Who's to complain?)

Some of the more archivally aware will notice this announcement is nearly a month past its post-by date. Honestly, I didn't forget. I was just planning on letting the special day pass us by without making a fuss. And so I did. Still, if the likes of tyrannical dictators (or pick your own loony) can march in and arbitrarily pick new start dates for a complete do over any time they feel like it, then I don't see why I can't.

Think I'd make a great front man for an authoritarian regime? Yeah, me too.

For most 'normal' people, this makes it Year Two on guff. Playing those geeky reindeer games, Year One would do nicely. But for me, it's Year Zero, or it's nothing at all.

In fact, I like the idea of it so much, from here on in every new year for guff will become Year Zero. Which offers the added benefit of reusing last year's calendar. As guff's fearless leader, I'm all about thrift. And a brutal, ruthless efficiency that dehumanizes the populace. Have to cut corners somewhere.

E-mail spam celebrates its 25th birthday this weekend.

Unfortunately, candles on the birthday cake turned out not to be filled with fulminated mercury, as originally planned. Someone will pay dearly.

More inane weblog content...

I won't be going to see X-Men 2.

No, I'm not anti-X-Men, or even disdainful of comic book movies in general. In fact, I liked the first one, and I'm sure the new film is just as good, if not better. Based on the initial reviews I've come across, it seems like it'll be a real winner at the box office. None of this matters, as I am not going to catch it while it's in theaters. You see, I picked the short straw. So for my friends and relatives, I'll be the one person they know who didn't see X-Men 2.

But this does leave me out of the drawing for The Matrix Reloaded, so I'll live.

Dinner is over. Tasty.

Hey, I happen to be cooking at home today. You know, food. As in dinner. Ok, so it's only going to be hamburgers, but it will include my own special formula for the meat.

Yes, it includes hamburg. My formula is not that special.
