blogged to a golden brown

You just know they'll blame Clinton for this one.

Pope denounces the weblogs of Kafkaesquí (well, that's how I choose to read it).

(A non-sarcastic nod to Jody at Naked Writing, mainly for helping me see that The Raving Atheist was not being funny.)

Hey, who's the guy standing next to Sami al-Arian, and why is he consorting with a suspected terrorist supporter?

So, are Republicans supposed to be behind the philosophy of increasing a deficit, or against it totally? And are they for lowering taxes, or raising them?

I'm just a little confused.

Every day I wake up, get down on my knees, and give thanks to the Illuminati that my fellow countrymen/countrywomen have no fear about Orwell's belated prescience.

So, Plan 9 From Outer Space. Yeah, it's so bad you have to sit through it at least ten times, but this post isn't a review; it's an observation...

Among the 'Occasional Posters' at Fifi's Happy Blog there's Jen Jen, who "is 23. She likes to grow flowers in small pots while drinking Kahlua at the same time." Where I come from, we call that multitasking.

I recently received this e-mail message. If anyone feels up to it, a Weird to English translation would be much appreciated:

I don't know, Tom. I really don't know...Oh, that was rhetorical.

So, does anyone else feel a pang of guilt when editing down the title of new bookmarks so they won't increase the width of the menus and line up better with the other links?

Nah, neither do I.

So far today I've found absolutely nothing worth blogging about. That this very thought is blog worthy proves my point.

*sigh*

Diane gets hate mail, and all I can say is, these people need my help.

In the fantasy realm known only to bloggers, I stumble across these cat fights all the time. For anyone new to blogging and worried about them, there's a couple of common sense rules to keep in mind:If you ask nicely, I'll follow up with some others in the next several days. Otherwise, I'm too busy to bother.

Anyone else getting that sinking feeling that the flood waters are rising fast, and all we have on hand to deal with it are snorkels?

"“You’ll be amazed how quickly it can accumulate,” said Barnie Rayno, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather."

Amazed is not the word I would use to describe my reaction, Barnie.

As a partial explanation to the last post: God damn it.

I'm angry and in a mood to up and change the direction of this blog. After all, with a name like guff there should be more bravado, more sass. Don't you think?

For example, I keep mining the topic of blogs for an occasional pinch aimed at the weblogging community. But we all know it's well overdue for some serious taunting. Sure, I've made gestures now and again, but these were lame, token affairs not really deft at ticking my protagonists off. True and hearty guff would inflame its targets (and to my count so far, none have gone up more than a few degrees).

Or what about a regular swipe at participants in local and world political affairs? Look around. There's a war about to wage, for crying out loud. I can certainly find a way of being disgustingly insulting and provocative about that. Meanwhile I busy myself by musing over how Christianity now accepts Visa.

I assure you such a change would not be for my benefit. Oh no, it's for you, dear reader. I'm pissed about a vast number of things, and wish to bring you the invective talent and corrosive entertainment which can flow from my animosity. You really have been missing out.

In other business news, it turns out that war on terror is good for the economy. Perhaps those Slovakian prostitutes should get in on this. Imagine what they can do with duct tape and batteries.

Valentine's Day is bad for the economy. About time the "liberal" media spoke out on this.

When it comes to blogging, I don't live in a happening place.

I don't get to go to the cool events.

Not even enough bloggers to start up a meeting.

However, it's not as bad as it could be.

You see, the French are not a bunch of cheese-eating surrender monkeys. But I still don't like baguettes.

Hmm. I wonder why a German > English translation of the word "blogger" using Google's language tools provides the following conversion:

more blogger

Even more cryptic (or less, depending how you see it), when I perform a Spanish/Portuguese > English translation on the word, it generates:

to blogger

Why does the Internet cause me to read something into any coincidental output? I really should look into that.

If true...

First noticed Phil Ringnalda mention it, by way of Dan Gillmor, who is apparently backed up (in the sense the news is now out there) by Jason Shellen, although so far Ev Williams has stuck with a no comment sort of post about it all.

Welcome to Glogger. Or Bloogle. Or better yet...

[Update: Ev'splanation.]
